Setting the Exposure Modes
Changing the exposure mode
Two exposure modes are available: PROGRAM and AV Mode.
PROGRAM: In PROGRAM mode, the camera automatically determines the shutter
speed and aperture in accordance with the subject brightness. This
mode is generally suitable for snapshots, commemorative pictures,
landscapes, etc.
AV Mode: AV Mode uses aperture priority; therefore, when the aperture is set, the
camera automatically determines the shutter speed. This mode is used
when it is desired to utilize depth of field for certain specific purposes.
For example, for portraits, etc., the aperture can be opened up to blur the
background. Or the aperture can be closed down for sharp focus over a
wider range in landscapes, etc. Four aperture settings can be selected
with AV Mode: F2.8, F4, F6.5 and F13.
